11 Fun Facts About Me
This week, I read an article sent to my email from Entrepreneur.com titled: 13 Fun Facts That Will Make Your "About Me" A Lot Less Boring. It inspired me to answer the questions in their slide show, and I decided to post it here on the blog for you, my dear beloved readers.
1) Your childhood
I was born in Boston, MA. Both my parents are legal immigrants from Brazil who obtained their citizenship. In my early years, I traveled to Brazil with my mother and started going to the equivalent of pre-kindergarten in Vitoria, ES. I remember going to school in a uniform and playing outside with the other kids. Before 1st grade, I came back to the US and my family settled in Framingham, aka Little Brazil. My father was sort of a pioneer for Brazilians in the area. He had one of the first stores in downtown Framingham which was a important part in the huge Brazilian commerce we have in the city today. My mother was also busy working. She was part of the group of founders who started the Brazilian American Center in Framingham, known as O Bom Samaritano (the Good Samaritan) within the Brazilian community. So my childhood was pretty awesome. I got to travel, learn two different languages and develop my EI (emotional intelligence) because my family always provided me with a home that never had a lack of food nor water. It was amazing growing up the daughter of a successful business owner and a spiritual healer who enjoys organizing events and volunteering for charities.
2) Your dream occupation
I would love to be a Shark, like the investors on the show Shark Tank. But for now, I am a middle-class hardworking female entrepreneur. I feel like a millionairess, but my bank account and income have yet to measure up to that feeling. I call feeling like this "using the law of attraction" and every day I continue working on my skills and reaching higher levels of education to be a valuable employee wherever I choose to work. Currently, I love what I do. I am a QA Documentation Specialist and work with companies that develop, manufacture and sell drugs for cancer patients and people facing rare diseases all over the world. I want to further my education and become a Scientist before I turn 44. On the side, I sell my clothes and shoes online via Poshmark.
3) Your first car
My first car was either a red Dodge Neon or a black Ford something. I got my license at 16 year old and my dad bought me a car and had it ready for me, registered and parked at the house when I got back from my driver's test. Come to think of it, I don't think I ever thanked him for that... He is a good father and I wish and hope to be a better daughter and make him super proud one day. The car I drive now is what I like to call my "adult car" an Audi A4 in the color moonlight blue. I love driving and I currently love my car, but I still want to buy another one. A Tesla Model S. Dear Santa, watch me be good almost all year now!
4) Your hidden talents
Most people don't know that I play the piano and cello (used to, a loong long time ago). Also, I like playing chess and other games that involve critical thinking. I was pretty good at a game called Gomoku, aka Five in a Row, but it's not commonly played here in the US nor among my inner circle.
5) Your proudest accomplishments
In high school I was on the track team and I did pretty well winning several meets with my team. I enjoyed the relay races and passing the baton. I am also proud of how I am today, a survivor with a kind and compassionate heart. I used to dislike being a good person and having that innate strong urge and desire to help people because for a long time it felt like no good deed went unpunished. Also, I am proud of recognizing my ego and working to keep it a happy and balanced part of me, instead of "destroying" it.
6) What you learned from your biggest mistake
I learned so much from all of my mistakes, that I just call them lessons now. Everyone already knows none of us is perfect, so why bother with words like "mistake" when we can call them LESSONS and perpetuate what was learned from them instead of the initial problem?? I hope you catch my drift because we are half way there my friends... If you made it this far, keep on reading. Better yet, buy my book Vanilla Nightmare to read more about my biggest mistake and all the good things and lessons learned that came from that story.
7) The most unusual item in your office
Not that it's unusual, but I have a coffee mug that states Boss Lady and I only drink tea or hot chocolate out of it (because I'm not really a coffee drinker). Everything else on my desk is pretty normal, aside from the make-up bag I bring so it won't freeze in this cold weather and my pairs of heels I like to wear at work...
8) Your favorite sports team
I love watching people express happiness and it's amazing being around sports fans, especially the men. Their joy is so beautiful so as much as I'm not a huge huge sports fan myself, I enjoy rooting for my teams, which include: the Boston Celtics, Bruins, and New England Patriots. Also, for the wold cup I'm rooting for Brazil all the way; sorry USA, but we got American football so... Go Patriots <3
9) Your guilty pleasure
I don't even know where to begin with this one... I love foot massages, does that count? I also enjoy helping other people in their personal and character development, sometimes against their wishes (meaning I tell them something true about themselves and they perceive it as an insult or non-constructive criticism). However, over the past 3 years I have learned a lot, especially to talk less and listen more. Nowadays I focus more on understanding people than trying to be understood. Nonetheless, I am eternally grateful for my trials and lessons learned.
10) Your bestfriend
I have 2 best friends: Vinny and Kim. They are my everything, and as much as I don't get to see them as often as I would like, they cross my mind every day. The love & consideration we have for each other is stronger than a family bond. I love you guys! I'm so happy I met you two amazing beautiful perfect humans. <3
11) What's on your bucket list?
Travel the world; I want to go to every country possible (given safety concerns and what not). I also want to go to this roller coaster in Japan, and spend a month in Paris perfecting my French that I rarely get a chance to use in the US. I want to buy my parents a house and also purchase a vehicle in cash. I want to travel to and meditate / reflect in the sacred places of the world. This list keeps going guys lol so that's it for now.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it, and if not, I hope you you at least enjoy the rest of your day. Peace and love to all. Remember to share the love, not only for your close friends, family and loved ones, but also to strangers that cross your path; especially the rude, negative ones.... they need love and examples of positive vibes and healthy behavioral patterns more than the super happy ones.
